The African Literacy Foundation (ALF) was born from a deep passion for education, community empowerment, and equitable healthcare. Founded in 2007 by Peace and Emeka Eziakonwa, ALF has grown into a force for change, bridging gaps in literacy, healthcare, and community support for underserved populations across Africa.
For Emeka, philanthropy has always been a way of life. Growing up, he watched his mother, a devoted philanthropist, keep her gates and arms open to all, offering kindness and support to those in need. Her selflessness inspired his deep commitment to giving back, shaping his vision for ALF. With an MBA in Business Administration from the University of South Florida, Emeka brings strategic leadership and a drive to create lasting impact.
Peace’s journey is equally inspiring. With a BA in English Language and a career transition from nursing to philanthropy, she found her true calling in empowering communities through education and healthcare. After moving from Nigeria to the U.S., she embraced her passion for giving back, ensuring that underserved communities receive the opportunities and care they deserve.
Together, they built ALF as a beacon of hope, ensuring that education, healthcare, and community support are not privileges but fundamental rights accessible to all.
At ALF, we believe that knowledge, health, and empowerment are the foundation of a thriving society. Our mission is to:
Provide quality education resources to children and young adults through book drives, school wear, school supplies, and scholarships.
Financial assistance given to tertiary students to ease the burden of tuition, helping them achieve their dreams.
Empower women with skills, training, and resources to foster economic independence and sustainable livelihoods.
Training programs, resources, and financial support to uplift women and promote self-sufficiency.
Support children’s well-being through food drives, ensuring pupils have the nutrition they need to learn and grow.
Nutritious meals provided to schoolchildren, helping them stay focused in class and reducing hunger-related learning barriers.
Bridge healthcare disparities by funding and operating medical missions, clinics, and annual free health outreaches.
A community clinic—privately funded in collaboration with the Micheal I Eziakonwa Foundation—providing life-saving care to a region with no other medical facility within 50 miles.
